What are your intentions for 2021?

You can design the life or home of your dreams by living an 'intentional' life. If your home is the same as it was 5, 10 or even 15 or more years ago, it's time to set some intentions. Instead of waiting for the projects to just happen which they won't or for them to blow along with the Covid wind, set some intentions and home goals for 2021.

Covid is here for a while longer, unfortunately and if we have gleaned anything at all from the challenges of 2020, it is to accept the here and now, to be more patient with ourselves and the situation but to push ourselves intentionally forward. Without expecting too much during Covid, try to keep moving forward even if it's just baby steps of progress. With this in mind there are 365 opportunities in 2021 to make those 'intentional' steps happen however big or small!

In order to live the life that you want and have the home that you dream of, you need a plan. As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote — 'A goal without a plan is just a wish' and there is little chance that it will become reality unless you intentionally make that commitment. There may be many things that you would like to do, and believe me when I say I have so many ideas and goals that I want to accomplish 'yesterday'. Being a busy mum of 3 as well as an Interior Designer and small business owner with a corporate husband who has a grueling schedule, I seemingly never have enough hours in the day or weeks in the year to accomplish it all. I sometimes revel in the idea of having my own personal dream team to delegate all my life and home goals to, to turn them into reality. Wouldn't that be nice, but where would the sense of personal accomplishment be? Well that's what I keep telling myself, now let's get back to reality!

First of all it's important not to have too many things on your list, I'm imprinting that on my forehead as I type this! Focus on one or two items that you would really like to accomplish in your home and set that as your priority. Think about what could be done today to achieve your vision..... remember the baby steps. Consider your space, your family dynamics and how you live in it now as opposed to 5 or 10 years ago,

Maybe you have been making do, we all do at some point in our lives, but wouldn't it be so satisfying and ultimately soothing if that space really worked for you and the life that you have now? As we are relegated to the home much more during this Covid era we can truly appreciate how our space works or doesn't in many cases.

Maybe those 2020 design projects haven't happened yet and are sitting in the back of your mind or just sitting in general. If you are not sure how to approach it, need a little nudge, or an extra pair of hands to project manage it so that it can move it forward in a timely and professional manner now may be the time to hire a designer or a professional to pave the way. Make each day intentional.... 365.... 364.... 363
